Free AND Green Electricity??? You must be barking….

But no – the only bark came from a diligent and vocal German Shepherd at the home of Paul Williams (in blue) when I arrived to photograph him and Ben Way (in white) early in the morning of April 21.

These are the kind of jobs where I turn up not knowing what to expect then POW – I become involved in a small way with something incredible…

So who are they? Paul and Ben are the CEO and CTO respectively of Freetricity which was launched TODAY – accompanied by a fantastic offer to 1200 Surrey residents to go green for FREE! Anybody who is interested simply needs to visit www.freetricity.net to register and find out more.

At the time I was busy shooting and wasn’t sure if I was hearing correctly but these two engaging personalities have indeed made this happen. It is paid for by the UK Government’s Feed in Tariff Scheme (FiT).  Freetricity takes these FiT payments and the homeowner benefits from free electricity produced by the solar panels.

Paul Williams (CEO of Freetricity) is an entrepreneur and investor who lives in Surrey.  He has founded a number of companies including World Publications which he subsequently sold to the BBC.

Ben Way (CTO of Freetricity) is best known for his appearance on “Secret Millionaire”.  He started his first company aged just 15 and went on to become one of the first .com millionaires.  He won the title of New Business Millennium Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2000 and has developed numerous ventures since then, making him one of the most prolific entrepreneurs in the UK.

I was booked to photograph Paul and Ben by the award winning public relations agency PNPR who have been colleagues of mine for years. They were hired by Freetricity to manage the PR campaign.
